The prices of electricity bills in August rose by 3.32% and in the year, they have already climbed by 25.9%, according to the most recent report presented by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), included in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
In addition, the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME) estimates that 67% of the country’s energy is consumed inefficiently, which annually represents between US$6,600 million and US$11,000 million.
