Despite social criticism and the claims of the national government, energy prices continue to rise in the midst of accelerated inflation, and although they affect everyone, Colombian companies are the most affected. According to the latest report presented by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), included in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the prices of the bills for this service in August rose by 3.32% and in the year, they have already climbed 25.9%.
In addition, the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME) estimates that 67% of the country’s energy is consumed inefficiently, which annually represents between US$6,600 million and US$11,000 million.
